Jealous
Moon
a brief history of music on the lunatic fringe
Jealous Moon had its start in the annual coffeehouses performed by Deb Siegrist (now Deb Seigrist Harrison) as a benefit for LAVORP (Lancaster Area Victim Offender Reconciliation Program). Deb would gather a group of musicians to participate with her in the LAVORP coffeehouses.

In 2001, the coffeehouse musicians included Karen Beitzel (Deb's sister), Steve Stayrook, Ruben Suarez, Laura Kennedy, and Scott Rittenhouse. The group performed at the coffeehouse under the name, "Jealous Moon." After the coffeehouse, the members of Jealous Moon decided to continue to rehearse. In mid-2001, Scott left Jealous Moon and Ken Harrison joined.

Jealous Moon spent the fall and winter of 2001 putting together several sets of music. During the summer and fall of 2002, Jealous Moon did some benefit performances and also played at a few local establishments (to see our list of previous performances,

Moon music could be heard throughout the Lancaster County area in 2003. In the Fall of 2003, Laura Kennedy left the Lancaster area to attend graduate school and Scott Rittenhouse rejoined Jealous Moon. Scott moved to Idaho in May, 2004.

After taking a break for much of the Summer of 2004, Jealous Moon added a new member--John Hickey on drums and percussion--in the Fall of 2004. At the same time, Jealous Moon said goodbye to Ruben Suarez--the result of another out-of-state move. Throughout the Fall and Winter of 2004, Jealous Moon worked hard at adding new songs into their playlist, with plans to begin performing again in Spring 2005 as a five-piece band.
In 2005 and 2006, Jealous Moon played a number of venues and most often could be found at George Street Cafe in Millersville. In the Fall of 2006, John Hickey accepted a job out of state. Guy Boyer was added in his place on drums, congas and perscussion. After Guy joined the band, the members of Jealous Moon got the creative juices flowing and penned a number of original songs, including, "Gates of Eden," "Color of You," and "A Note I Wrote."
